Tallest Mountains in Oregon

Tallest Mountains in Oregon

Oregon’s mountain landscape is defined by the dramatic peaks of the Cascade Range, which runs through the center of the state, and the rugged Wallowa Mountains in the northeast corner. While the Cascades are famous for their massive, glaciated stratovolcanoes like Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson, the Wallowas—often called the “Alps of Oregon”—contain many of the state’s highest non-volcanic summits. Between these ranges and the unique fault-block of Steens Mountain in the southeast, Oregon offers a diverse high-altitude terrain that stretches from alpine forests to high desert vistas.
