Highest Point in Iowa – Hawkeye Point
Hawkeye Point is located in the far northwest corner of the state in Osceola County, reaching an elevation of 1,670 feet. Like Mount Sunflower in Kansas, it is situated on a working family farm and is surrounded by vast stretches of agricultural land. The site is quite welcoming to visitors, featuring a flagpole, a mosaic of the state of Iowa, and various pieces of vintage farm equipment. Standing at the top, you are roughly 1,100 feet higher than the state’s lowest point at the confluence of the Mississippi and Des Moines Rivers, though the elevation gain is so gradual across the state that it feels like a simple extension of the surrounding fields.
