Tallest Mountains in Alabama

Tallest Mountains in Alabama

Alabama’s mountains may not reach the towering heights of the Rockies, but they offer some of the most rugged and scenic terrain in the Deep South. Representing the southern tail of the Appalachian chain, these peaks are characterized by dense hardwood forests, rocky bluffs, and the rolling ridges of the Talladega and Blue Ridge ranges. While much of the state transitions into flat coastal plains toward the Gulf, the northeast corner is home to several summits over 2,000 feet, providing a legitimate playground for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. From the historic stone tower atop Cheaha Mountain to the remote wilderness of the Dugger Mountain range, Alabama’s high points offer a surprisingly vertical escape from the humid lowlands.
