Tallest Mountains in Germany
Germany’s highest peaks are exclusively located in the Bavarian Alps, specifically within the Northern Limestone Alps. The most famous and highest is the Zugspitze, which sits on the border between Germany and Austria.
A unique feature of German mountaineering is the distinction between independent summits and sub-peaks. Many of Germany’s highest “points” are actually secondary peaks on the same massif. This table focuses on the primary independent summits.
