Tallest Mountains in Central America
Central America’s highest peaks are part of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas range, primarily dominated by a chain of massive stratovolcanoes. Because the region is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, almost all the tallest mountains are volcanic in origin. Guatemala serves as the region’s high-point hub, containing the vast majority of the tallest peaks in the isthmus.
